CHAPTER 3
REPAIR PROCEDURES FOR MAJOR COMPONENTS
Section I. GENERAL INFORMATION
3-1. GENERAL.
This chapter provides the repair procedures performed on all engine models after
the engine has been installed on the maintenance stand. The sequence of the repair procedures is
done by the order the engine would be taken apart whenever possible. Component replacement
typically consists of removal, disassembly, cleaning/inspection, repair, assembly, and installation of the
component. Next, the engine block maintenance consists of disassembly, inspection, repair, and
assembly of the block components. For major components, the repair is handled separately from
removal and installation. Component repair usually consists of disassembly, cleaning/inspection, and
assembly. When two or more models have identical or nearly identical components, those models will
be covered in the same task. Direct Support and General Support procedures are separated by
section.
