1.

If any measurement taken in frame 71 is not within limits given in table 4-18,

skip step 2 and do step 3.

2.

Count the number of main bearing oil clearance measurements done in step 2

of frame 71 that are more than 0.0062 inch. If four or more oil clearance

measurements are more than 0.0062 inch, do step 3. If three or fewer oil

clearance measurements are more than 0.0062 inch, go to frame 75.

3.

Take out two screws and washers (1) from each of seven main bearing

caps (2).

4.

Take off seven main bearing caps (2).

Take out and throw away all 14

main bearing halves (3) and get a new 0.0020-inch undersize main bearing kit.

NOTE

If main bearing halves (3) were changed, do frames 56

to 72 again for new main bearing halves.
