NOTE
Main thrust bearing halves (1 and 2) are different from
other main bearing halves (3). Main thrust bearing halves
have a flange (4) on each side.
Measure inside width A of main thrust bearing half (2) between flanges (4).
If reading is not within limits given in table 4-11, throw away both main
bearing halves (1 and 2) and all 12 main bearing halves (3).
Measure width of main thrust bearing cap (5). If reading is not within
limits given in table 4-11, throw away crankcase (6) and all seven main
bearing caps (5 and 7) and get a new crankcase.
NOTE
New crankcase (6) comes with new bearing caps (5 and 7).
Measure fit of main thrust bearing haIf (2) on main thrust bearing cap (5).
If reading is not within limits given in table 4-11, do steps 1 and 2 again.
If reading is still not within limits, throw away crankcase (6) and all seven
main bearing caps (5 and 7) and get a new crankcase.
IF BEARING HALVES WERE NOT THROWN AWAY, GO TO FRAME 36.
