FIELD MAINTENANCE
PREPARATION FOR STORAGE OR SHIPMENT
INITIAL SETUP:

PREPARATION FOR STORAGE OR SHIPMENT
1.
Perform all Field Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) (WP
0046).
2.
Correct all deficiencies noted during inspection if facilities are available. If repairs required are beyond the
scope of Field Maintenance, refer the deficiencies to Supervisor.
3.
Instructions pertaining to Basic Issue Items (BII) and Components of End Items (COEI) storage locations are
covered in COEI and BII Lists (TM 9-2330-342-10) (WP
0190) and Vehicle Equipment Loading Plan (TM
9-2330-342-10) (WP
0190).
4.
Remove dust and corrosion and scrape any flaked and peeling paint. Dry all surfaces to be painted and coated
with preservatives.
5.
Repaint surface, as required, to prevent against deterioration. Refer to TM 43-0139 (WP
0190) for painting
instructions.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
LONG TERM STORAGE
To prepare the unit for long term storage:
a.
Lubricate all fitting and oil can points in accordance with General Lubrication Instructions.
b.
Wipe a thin coat of grease (WP
0193, Table 1, Item 33, 34, 35, 36, 37) on exposed portion of drawbar.
c.
Drain air reservoirs completely, refer to TM 9-2330-342-10 (WP
0190).
PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT
Preservation and other protective measures taken in the preparation of material and accompanying tools and
equipment for shipment must be sufficient to protect the trailer against deterioration and physical damage during
shipment.
ARMY SHIPPING DOCUMENTS
Prepare all Army shipping documents accompanying freight in accordance with AR 725-50 (WP
0190).
