NOTE
Rear oil seal tends to wear, a groove in crankshaft
flange (1).
Check to see if there is a groove in crankshaft flange (1). If there is, set
up dial indicator (2) as shown.
For best reading, pull crankshaft away from
dial indicator.
If groove in crankshaft flange (1) is more than 0.005 inch deep, get a new
crankshaft (3).
Then go to frame 21.
If there is no groove or groove is less than 0.005 inch deep, check crankshaft
flange (1) for minor nicks, scratches or burrs.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use near an
open flame.
Keep a fire extinguisher nearby when sol-
vent is used.
Use only in well-ventilated places. Fail-
ure to do this may result in injury to personnel and
damage to equipment.
If crankshaft flange (1) has minor nicks, scratches or burrs, smooth it with
crocus cloth dipped in cleaning solvent.
