Check that crankshaft gear key (1) has no nicks. Fix minor nicks with a
fine oil stone.
Get a new key if it has any deep nicks.
Check that crankshaft gear key (1) fits snugly in keyway in crankshaft (2).
If crankshaft gear key (1) is loose, threw it away and put in a new one.
Check that crankshaft thrust faces (3) have no grooves, scuffing or
discoloration. If any thrust face is grooved, scuffed or discolored, get
a new crankshaft.
