not use near an
open flame. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby when sol-
vent is used.
Use only in well-ventilated places. Fail-
ure to do this may result in injury to personnel and
damage to equipment.
Check that six piston oil sprayer nozzles (1) have no dents, nicks, scratches
or burrs. Fix small nicks or burrs with a fine mill file or crocus cloth dipped
in dry cleaning solvent.
If piston oil sprayer nozzle is badly damaged, throw
it away and get a new one.
Check that oil passage in six piston oil sprayer nozzles (1) is clear. If oil
passage is stopped up, clean nozzle opening with wire probe and cleaning
solvent.
Clear nozzle with compressed air.
If oil passage is blocked because piston oil sprayer nozzle (1) is dented or
bent, throw away piston oil sprayer nozzle and get a new one. Nozzle openings
should be 0.070 inch on engine LDS 465-2 and 0.060 inch for all other
engines.
Check that 14 main bearing cap bolts (2) do not have damaged threads, dam-
aged heads, nicks or burrs.
Throw away damaged main bearing cap bolts
and get new ones.
Check that 14 main bearing cap washers (3) are not bent or damaged. Throw
away damaged main bearing cap washers and get new ones.
