CAUTION
Be careful not to nick or scratch camshaft journals
(1). If camshaft journals are damaged, engine will
not run properly.
Take out camshaft gear woodruff key (2).
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use near an
open flame. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby when sol-
vent is used. Use only in well-ventilated places. Fail-
ure to do this may result in injury to personnel and
damage to equipment.
Clean camshaft (3) with dry cleaning solvent. Clean off sludge and gum using
stiff brush.
Dry with clean cloth.
Clean camshaft thrust plate (4), camshaft gear woodruff key (2), two camshaft
thrust plate screws (5), and lockwashers (6), and camshaft gear locknut (7)
with dry cleaning solvent. Dry with clean cloth.
Clean camshaft gear (8) with dry cleaning solvent. Clean off sludge and gum
deposits with stiff brush. Dry with clean cloth.
Put camshaft gear woodruff key (2) back in camshaft (3) so it will not be
lost.
