Readings must be within limits given in table 4-1. If
readings are not within given limits, throw away part
and get a new one.

Check that oil pump idler gear shaft (1) is not cracked or broken. Check
that oil pump idler gear shaft is not scored. Check that oil pump idler
gear shaft does not have small bits of metal stuck in it.
Measure out side diameter of oil pump idler gear shaft (1).
If oil pump idler gear shaft (1) is damaged or worn, using 2-ton hydraulic
press, press it out of front main bearing cap (2).
IF OIL PUMP IDLER GEAR SHAFT (1) WAS PRESSED OUT, GO TO FRAME 3.
IF OIL PUMP IDLER GEAR SHAFT (1) WAS NOT PRESSED OUT, GO TO FRAME 5
