NOTE
Crankshaft (1) has six connecting rod journals. They
are numbered one to six, counting from front to rear.
Using micrometer, measure diameter of number one connecting rod journal (2).
Take measurements as close to front and rear ends of connecting rod journal
as possible.
Note measurement.
Turn micrometer 1/4 turn around number one connecting rod journal (2).
Do step 1 again with micrometer in this new position. Note measurement.
Subtract the smaller of the two measurements taken in steps 1 and 2 from the
larger of two measurements.
If difference is more than 0.0010 inch, journal
(2) is out of round.
Get a new crankshaft (1).
Note the smallest of the four measurements taken in steps 1 and 2 and the
number of connecting rod journal (2) it was taken on.
Do steps 1 through 3 again for other five connecting rod journals
(3 through 7).
