NOTE
This task is shown for engines LD-465-1, LD-465-1C,
and LDT-465-1C.
This task is the same for engines
LDS-465-1 and LDS-465-1A, and LDS-465-2.
Look in window (1) and check that timing mark (2) lines up with pointer (3).
If timing mark lines up with pointer, pump timing is correct. Go to frame 15.
Using socket wrench (4) as shown, hold nut at center of fuel pump drive
gear (5).
Using socket wrench (6) as shown, loosen but do not take out
three screws (7).
Look in window (1). Turn wrench (4) until mark (2) and pointer (3) line
up and hold wrench firmly in this position.
NOTE
Elongated holes in fuel pump drive gear (5) will let pump
turn about 20° while drive gear is mounted on pump and
three screws (7) are loose.
If timing mark (2) cannot be
lined up with pointer (3), take off drive gear. Refer to
Part 1, para 3-10.
Then set pump timing. Refer to
frame 6 and frames 11 through 14. When pump timing
has been set, put back drive gear. Refer to frames
11 and 12.
Using torque wrench (6), tighten three screws (7) to 23 to 27 pound-feet
while keeping drive gear (5) from turning by holding wrench (4) firmly.
Check pump timing again. Refer to frames 13 and 14.
