4-19. CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLIES.
NOTE
This task is the same for the front and rear cylinder
head assemblies (1).
It must be done for both
cylinder head assemblies.
Intake valves are bigger than exhaust valves.

Disassembly.

Using valve spring compressor, press in outer valve spring (2).
Take out two exhaust valve spring retainer locks (3).
CAUTION
Be careful not to let valve spring compressor slip
off valve spring retainer (4) when easing off valve
spring tension.
Outer valve spring (2) and valve
spring retainer can pop out and be lost.
Slowly work valve spring compressor to ease off tension on outer valve
spring (2).
Take off valve spring retainer (4).
Take out outer valve spring (2) and inner valve spring (5).
Take out and tag exhaust valve (6) and valve rotor (7).
Do steps 1 through 6 again and take out and tag two more exhaust valves,
valve rotors, and springs (8) and three intake valves, valve rotors, and
springs (9).
