WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use near
an open flame.
Keep a fire extinguisher nearby when
solvent is used.
Use only in well-ventilated places.
Failure to do this may result in injury to personnel and
damage to equipment.
Check that two plunger bores (1) are not scratched. Fix small scratches in
plunger bores with crocus cloth dipped in dry cleaning solvent.
NOTE
Some cast iron oil cooler and filter housings (2) do not
have threaded inserts (3) or threaded hex-head bushings
(4). On these oil cooler and filter housings, threads are
tapped directly into two holes (5).
Check that all tapped holes in oil cooler and filter housing (2) do not have
stripped or damaged threads.
Fix minor thread damage with a tap. If threads
are stripped or badly damaged, put in a threaded insert of the proper size.
On engine LDS-465-2, check that two threaded inserts (3) are not damaged.
Take out damaged threaded inserts using screw thread extractor. Put in
new threaded inserts using screw thread inserter.
On all engines except LDS-465-2, if oil cooler and filter housing (2) has two
threaded hex-head bushings (4), check that they are not damaged. Unscrew
and take out damaged threaded hex-head bushings. Coat outside of new
threaded hex-head bushings with sealant, then screw in and tighten them.
