2-7. OIL LEVEL GAGE ROD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (MODEL 5063-5299)

Tool kit, general mechanics (App B, item 107 )
Torque wrench (App B, Item 116)
a. Removal

Remove oil gage rod (1) from tube
assembly (2).
Unscrew tube assembly (2) from adaptor
(3) in left side of oil pan.
Remove screw (4), Iockwasher (5), nut
(6), clip 7, and tube assembly (2) from
bracket (8) on flywheel housing. If
necessary, remove clip from tube
assembly (2). Discard Iockwasher.
Remove two screws (9), two Iockwashers
(10), and bracket (8) from left side of
flywheel housing. Discard Iockwashers.
b. Installation

If removed, install clip (7) on tube
assembly (2). Loosely install tube
assembly in adaptor (3).
Install bracket (8), two Iockwashers (10),
and two screws (9) on flywheel housing.
Torque screws to 16-20 Ib-ft (22-27 N•m).
Install screw (4), clip (7), tube assembly
(2), Iockwasher (5), and nut (6) on
bracket (8), Torque screw to 30-35 Ib-ft
(41-47 N•m).
Tighten tube assembly (2) at adaptor (3).
NOTE
Cut and mark new oil gage rod
as shown.
Install oil gage rod (1) in tube assembly
(2).
