Check that three exhaust valve seats (1) are not cracked or loose. If any
exhaust valve seat is cracked or loose, take it out using engine valve
seat knockout tool.
Check that three exhaust valve seats (1) are not burned or pitted. If any
exhaust valve seat is burned or pitted, take it out using engine valve seat
knockout tool.
Set cylinder head (2) on side as shown.
Coat face of a new intake valve (3)
with Prussian blue.
Put new exhaust valve in cylinder head so that it rests
against any exhaust valve seat (1).
Turn new exhaust valve (3) 1/2-turn in either direction.
Push new exhaust valve (3) straight out of cylinder head (2). Check for an
even coating of Prussian blue all the way around the exhaust valve seat (1)
just checked.
If coating is not even, tag exhaust valve seat just checked
for grinding by machine shop.
Do steps 3 through 5 again for other two exhaust valve seats (1).
