Lay a straight edge (1) along line A on gasket surface of cylinder head (2).
Using feeler gage, check that gasket surface of cylinder head is not out-of-
flat crosswise.
If gasket surface of cylinder head (2) is more than 0.003 inch out-of-flat
crosswise, get a new cylinder head.
If gasket surface is out-of-flat by less
than 0.003 inch crosswise, tag cylinder head for resurfacing by reaching shop.
NOTE
Cylinder head (2) may have been resurfaced before. If
cylinder head was resurfaced before, amount of metal
machined off will be stamped on front of cylinder head
about 1/2 inch from gasket surface of cylinder head.
No more than 0.005 inch can be machined off. If 0.005
inch has already been machined off and cylinder head
needs resurfacing, get a new cylinder head.
Lay straight edge (1) along line B on gasket surface of cylinder head (2).
Do steps 1 and 2 again.
Lay straight edge (1) along line C on gasket surface of cylinder head (2).
Do steps 1 and 2 again.
Lay straight edge (1) along line D on gasket surface of cylinder head (2).
Do steps 1 and 2 again.
